Window shades offer economical solutions

ImageWindow shades offer practical and decorative options for the inside of your home. Shades are used as a window treatment because of their ability to shade your home from sunlight and other outside light. Window shades also give your home the privacy that you want when you want it.

There are various types of window shades. Roller shades are easy to use and filter light through the room or are available in darkening versions for the room that they are used in. Roller shades are spring-loaded and run the risk of breaking. They are the least expensive and do use a varieties of fabrics. Roman shades provide a modern look with fabric and are the most expensive. They combine the look of a window treatment and the purpose of a shade. Pleated shades are beautiful and inexpensive. They have the look of a cellular shade with a nice eye catching view in either casual or formal settings. Cellular shades are of a honeycomb design. This design is only noticeable from the side and cellular shades have the ability to be pulled up and stacked when you want a full view of the outside. They provide insulation against the heat, cold, and sound.

Wood shades also are used as window treatments. These types of window shades are quite beautiful. They use matchstick thin pieces of bamboo or hardwood. These types of window shades do run the risk of a little light seeping through; therefore, they need to be lined for nighttime use. They do ultimately provide your home with adequate privacy and some sun control. Window shades are available in a variety of colors and types, from the inexpensive roller shades to the more elegant Roman shades. Depending on your home décor, there is a window treatment out there for you in the window shades department.
