Pleated Shades
Pleated Shades
A less expensive choice to cellular shades but with similar benefits and advantages is pleated shades, made with only one layer of polyester fabric.  When down, the shades resemble an accordion and when up, they easily fold into the head-rail.  The cord that pulls the shades up and lets them down can be adjusted to raise the shade to any height and is visible, unlike the cellular shade cord which is hidden.

Pleated Shades and their Advantages
Like the cellular shades, pleated shades are great light filters and a blackout fabric can be added for complete light blockage.  Pleated shades, although not as insulating as cellular shades, still help to keep hot and cold air out of rooms.  As an added advantage, pleated shades help to block out noise distractions from the outdoors.  They are very light-weight, simple to use and offer great privacy.

Disadvantages of Pleated Shades
Disadvantages include less insulating power than cellular shades and only two settings – up or down.  Pleated shaded are a much more economical version of honeycomb shades and lack some of their functional and design benefits.

Pleated Shade Selection
Pleated shades come in a wide variety of colors, designs, and textures making them an excellent choice for almost any window or door covering.  Additionally, installation of pleated shades is extremely easy and most shades come with the complete installation instructions and hardware necessary for mounting.
